The Kenai River Guide Code of Ethics
Every business listed on Kenai River Guide signs this code before its listing is published. It is short on purpose: eight promises a guide, lodge, outfitter or any other business makes to the people who find it here.
The code
Eight promises
Quote it before the trip
Give the customer a clear price in writing before they book, and say exactly what is and isn't included — licenses and tags, gear, meals, flights, fuel, fish processing.
Charge what you quoted
No surprise add-ons. If the trip changes, say so first and get the customer's okay before the price changes.
Safety comes first
Brief every guest, carry the safety gear your trip calls for, and call off or change a trip when weather, water or ice say so.
Hold every license, permit and insurance your work requires
USCG credentials, ADF&G sport fishing guide registration, Big Game Commercial Services Board licenses, land-use permits, your Alaska business license — whatever applies to what you do.
Follow the regulations and respect the resource
Keep to seasons, limits and emergency orders, leave camps and access points cleaner than you found them, and respect private and Native land.
Say what a trip really is
Describe your trips honestly and use photos of your own trips. Never promise a catch, a harvest or a sighting.
Handle complaints honestly
Listen, make it right where you were wrong, and never pressure, threaten or retaliate over a review.
Compete fairly
No fake reviews, no bait-and-switch pricing, and no running down a competitor with claims you can't back up.
How it works
Signed before anything publishes
A business agrees to the code when it applies or claims its listing. Nothing goes live until it has. The signature is the basis of every listing on this site.
If a listed business isn't living up to it, tell us. We'll talk to the business, and a business that won't keep the code comes off the site.
Listed businesses are independent companies. Kenai River Guide does not verify licenses, insurance or workmanship — check with the business before you book.
